SCHOOL UNIFORM

Please find below the information regarding your child’s school uniform. Please select the correct drop down box for the grade you are requiring.

The school uniform plays an important role in a learner’s school career. Besides creating a basic uniformity and equality in the school, it also helps the learner to develop a sense of pride in his/her school. It is thus essential for each learner to be correctly and neatly attired when attending school.

  • Flesh coloured stockings may not be worn under grey socks.
  • Skirt length: a maximum of eight centimetres above the knee when kneeling.
  • All hair accessories must be white or navy blue.
  • Neither girls nor boys will be permitted to have colouring in their hair.
  • Only girls may wear earrings. Only small plain gold or silver single studs or small thin sleepers.

NEW UNIFORM FOR THE FOUNDATION PHASE

We are planning to update our uniform code for the Foundation Phase learners  (Grades 1 to 3) over the course of the school year.  The aim is to make it more suitable and comfortable for their current active curriculum which includes some type of dance, movement, drama and physical activity on a daily basis.  The new uniform will be phased in, allowing learners to use existing uniform items, which may have been purchased recently.  We would like to see  the learners  in their new uniform as of next year, 2023, using this year to phase it in, if parents feel ready to do so.

The new uniform will consist of:

  • Bosmansdam (OFFICIAL) Sports shirt
  • Navy shorts
  • Trainers / Takkies (white or black)
  • White socks (girls) Grey socks (boys)
  • Bossies cap (OFFICIAL) is optional

In colder weather conditions, the school tracksuit (OFFICIAL) may be worn over the above uniform.

At  the moment, this is the sport and PE uniform that is only worn on certain days, so we are confident that the majority of learners already have a limited quantity of this attire.  We know that only a few extra sport shirts would be needed for a full school week.

This uniform will be worn every day. The advantages are it:

  • supports our active curriculum
  • simplifies the school uniform
  • reduces costs to families
  • minimises forgetting to wear PE clothing
  • will be more comfortable than buttoned shirts, ties etc.

The School Governing Body has approved this proposal and we look forward to these changes over the course of the next few years.  We understand that the learners who are currently in Grade 3 will not adapt the new uniform trend as this is their last year in the Foundation Phase and this would only incur unnecessary costs.  We are looking  at encouraging the lower Grades to start purchasing extra Sport shirts and to make the necessary changes during this year so as to be ready by 2023.  The Grade R learners have already adopted this uniform, the only difference being that their  Sport shirt is RED. This will not change for now.

We trust that you will see the advantages of these amendments and will support our decision as we only have your children’s best interests at heart.  Do not delay in ordering your shirts and tracksuits!  Our suppliers are ready for your order.
